Knee Surgery to Prevent Participation

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- E P Aeration, the leader in environmentally sound sub-surface aeration and water feature management systems, announced that Mike McGee, the company's president and general manager, will be unable to compete in this year's Crittenden Golf Expo Tournament at Indian Wells Country Club. McGee is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on April 11.
Mr. McGee is perhaps best known for shattering the course record for most strokes in a round at Estrella Mountain Ranch during last year's event, a feat which he accomplished in just 9 holes. He denied rumors that an early leak of his unavailability for this year's tournament caused a serious spike in the Indian Wells superintendent's bar tab, and a reprimand for excessive celebration by the maintenance staff.
McGee said his biggest regret is that the surgery will delay his debut on the Senior Tour. He had received sponsor's exemptions for the stops at Ulan Bator, Tierra del Fuego, and Ultima Thule, where the superintendents were anxious to utilize his skills in excess turf removal.
The company said that McGee will take advantage of the time made available by skipping the tournament -- and practice -- to inspect some of the most recent installations of the company's equipment in the area at Country Club of the Desert in La Quinta, Bermuda Dunes Country Club, the Canyon Course at Bighorn Country Club, and The Reserve. He will also have the opportunity to meet with the company's authorized sales and service representatives in the Coachella Valley.
