Jespersen Ranch: San Luis Obispo, is a ½ acre, irrigation/fire suppression reservoir. Water source is from a well. The system we installed consists of a single-compressor EP-LK 2006 and 150’ of LWA-1.5  (cut on 1 ½-inch centers) linear tubing. The owner approached us due to a severe planktonic algae bloom which necessitated frequent back-washing and cleaning of emitters. Visibility upon first inspection was approx 18" (“before” photos). We returned 10 days after installation to find it as it is shown in the “after” photos. The bottom of the reservoir (10 feet) is clearly visible. Current visibility is estimated to be 15’-20’.

Adelaide fish kill
Adelaide Vineyards reservoir
Adelaida Vineyards contacted E P Aeration in October 2006 regarding a massive fish kill on one of their irrigation reservoirs. We arrived onsite the next day for the preliminary consultation to find thousands of dead fish on the shoreline and thousands more"piping" for oxygen at the surface. The water was turbid and stunk like rotten eggs. The pond was in the midst of an oxygen crash that devastated the entire ecosystem. E P Aeration installed a single Uni-2 lake aeration/ozone system and there have been no such further events. Currently the reservoir is in fantastic health and attracts a variety of wildlife including ducks and a beaver!

Director of sales and technical consultant Rich Dennis delights in his catch...The vineyard manager approached
E P Aeration at a vintner’s show with concerns about nuissance algae. The water was also lacking clarity (about 12 inches). One of the major concerns was that the algae was causing the pump filters to clog, requiring frequent back-flushing. The irrigation emitters were also clogging with organic build-up. These two factors caused all-around irrigation efficiency to decrease.

Since installing the system, the vineyard manager has not used any algaecides to kill algae and noted a significant improvement in water clarity.
